Stay tuned for guest speaker!

Want to see the bigger picture? Connect with parents throughout the school district? Make a difference?

If so, consider joining the DPAC executive. Meetings are once a month and can be attended in person, by phone or online (maybe). Read more about DPAC here.

The brief AGM will be followed by the October DPAC meeting. Guest speaker to be confirmed shortly. The agenda will be posted on the DPAC website on Monday, October 24.

BCCPAC Membership

The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils is the collective voice of parents at the provincial level. The more PACs that are BCCPAC members, the stronger the parent voice. BCCPAC also provides valuable resources and supports to parents and PACs. Find out about BCCPAC and the benefits of being a BCCPAC member here.

PACs should have recently received a reminder from BCCPAC about renewing their membership. As always, DPAC will pay the membership fee for all SD8 PACs and will be sending out additional instructions shortly – watch for it in your inbox and please respond promptly.

Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Are popping up all over in the current regulatory vacuum. Please keep medical marijuana edibles and all medications in safe locations. DPAC is planning parent education events about substance use in the next few months. In the meantime, read this article about Colorado’s regulation of edible marijuana products.

October is National Principal’s Month!

Great principals make great schools and can have a profound impact on a school’s students, teachers and the community as a whole.

The Learning Partnership is proud to announce October as National Principals’ Month in Canada to recognize and raise awareness about the vital role of principals in public schools and communities across Canada.

We invite you to celebrate the achievements of outstanding principals across Canada, and the impact they have in your schools and communities. Please share your stories and join the conversation online with the #OutstandingPrincipals hashtag.

You can also nominate a principal to be honoured as one of Canada’s Outstanding Principals, the only nationally recognized award and executive leadership training program for principals in Canada.

More info here.
