Hello Redfish Families,
This Thursday at 12pm, there is a PAC meeting. This meeting will be focused on looking at the School budget and the PAC budget as well as discussing how they align with the school goals. Come on out!

Parent Speaker series: what topic & who & when?
Some possible topics from Victoria’s Parents’ Night Out Survey: Mental Health (Anxiety, OCD, ADHD), Positive Parenting Strategies, Understanding Brain Development, Tween/Teen Support, Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
Christy will contact Liz Amarol to inquire about speaking on positive parenting
PAC Newsletter – goal is to facilitate communication between PAC and Redfish parents
Discussion regarding most suitable format, strategies to facilitate readership
Motion to generate a paper newsletter that will double as a raffle entry for 1 week of free hot lunch. Motion passed.
New Business
Facilities Plan
The Facilities Plan has been opened up again. There is opportunity to share feedback online via “Thought Exchange https://my.thoughtexchange.com/#537341911/hub
Trafalgar has not had upgrades in many years, however there is a pool of funding that can be applied for in order to make improvements.
Renovations are required to Blewett in order to accommodate grade 6-7; Does LVR have capacity to accept gr 8 students if Trafalgar were to close?
Redfish is in the process of being reimagined as a K-7 school. It is likely students will be required to transfer to Trafalgar for gr 8. Will there be an appetite for Redfish parents to campaign to extend to gr 8?
Financial Update
Accounting Club – kids have been learning how to use a deposit sheet and will start using the deposit book and writing cheques. Starting to code transactions using the accounting software. Will take a field trip to the bank in March to learn how to make a deposit.
Junior Achievers for Gr 4-5, introducing to financial system and business
Basketball team will request funds for jerseys

Pacific salmon foundation donation of $1500 (for a new tank).
Budget meeting still pending – it has been necessary to reschedule several budget meetings due to various extenuating circumstances.
Fundraising
Discussion regarding spacing out fundraisers and providing increased communication regarding fundraisers (what they are for, when they will take place)
Seed fundraiser – unfortunately the fundraiser wasn’t as popular as hoped; raised $442.16 for PAC. Cheque required to pay out west coast seeds – $683.68
Helicopter Drop – in progress
Grade 4/5 Track & Field Day
Hot Lunch Update
92 orders for current session; high participation
Planning will begin for next menu cycle
Eight gr 5 were provided with training to serve hot lunch – they are now serving lunch (1 student at a time). It is going well. Will re-evaluate after spring break.
The cost is $380 to sponsor a hot lunch day – Edge Roofing will sponsor a day
Pancake Day was sponsored by Redfish School
DPAC – BCCPAC meeting coming up in May, hopefully there will be delegates sent by our local DPAC
Call for resolutions from BCCPAC
Bussing – Is Nelson Transit a feasible option for Redfish students to get into town
Movie night next Friday (Mar 1) at Procter Hall (KLFN) – “Room on the Broom”, then “Brave” at 5:30 pm
